How Straight and Cut Wire Machines Work

A wire straightening and cutting machine, also known as WSCM, are widely used to extend wires from a coil or roll to straight and to then cut the cord. Machines are endowed with extensive features to complete diverse applications. Specific machines are configured explicitly for both straightening and cutting all sorts of cold drawn wires, as well as other nonferrous metal wires. Machines cut the wire as per the requirements of the job, which includes materials being cut (copper beryllium wire). Exact dimensions are cut continuously.

Typically, a machine is compiled with three processes, which include straightening, feeding, and cutting. Machines are built best to accommodate a variety of features like wire diameter size, cutting lengths, and power motor type.

Within the feeding unit, wires are fed through grooved feeding rolls (pinch rolls). This mechanism is power-driven. The unit works by squeezing or pinching materials so that the wire is pulled or pushed through the machine.

Straightening is considered the removal or elimination of stresses induced because of torque and force from manufacturing. This concept applies to tube straightening, wire straightening, strip, and profile shape straightening, and cable straightening.

The cutting or shearing process is followed up by the straightening process. Two classifications are used for cutting off mechanisms. First, there is a stationary shear where wires are halted during cutting. Then, the other flying shear in which the shearing mechanism moves along with the wire through the cutting cycle.
